Luton, March 30, 2007 ELSTER METERING INTRODUCES THE Q4000 ELECTROMAGNETIC WATER METER

Elster Metering Limited, part of Elster Group, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of highly accurate, high quality integrated metering and utilisation solutions announces the launch of the Q4000 electromagnetic water meter. The product is ideally suited to applications such as network management, leakage monitoring and commercial billing.

"As water consumption has increased over recent years, a demand has grown for water metering solutions able to deliver consistently accurate measurement. In addition, organisations are under ever-higher commercial pressure to reduce life-cycle costs. The Q4000 has been specifically designed to meet these needs," commented Elster’s Marketing Manager, Perry Shead. With a 10-year continuous battery life and an innovative flangeless design, Elster’s Q4000 water meter has a sampling rate of just 0.5 of a second, ensuring accurate and reliable measurement over a wide flow range. The product’s unrestricted flow tube ensures minimal pressure loss, even at the highest flow rates, thus reducing network system pressures and helping to prevent leakage from burst pipes. It can be adapted to suit either predominantly high or low flow rates, and is suitable for a wide variety of bulk flow metering applications.

For applications which require connectivity to water management and billing systems, including AMR and datalogging devices, the Q4000 features bi-directional pulse outputs, while its large, bright and easy-to-read LCD, showing volume and instantaneous flow rate, is a significant benefit in real-time network control and water management. The Q4000 also has alarm functions providing in situ status, to ensure no loss in measuring continuity, while an IP68 seal guarantees protection of internal electronics and long-term reliability.

The Q4000’s extremely tough stainless steel construction ensures a long, corrosion-free lifetime, and its lightweight body makes storage, transportation and installation both simpler and safer. A 10-year battery life and no need for calibration eliminates the need for expensive regular maintenance, and the product also features anti-corrosive electrodes to ensure consistently accurate performance throughout its entire life.

Optional features of the Q4000 include a remote display unit, offering a clear LCD for simpler access in hard-to-read applications. The unit also includes two pulse outputs for connection to ancillary devices.
